Follow my heart

I think line is the most basic element in drawing, but it also presents the simplest beauty. In the work “Follow my heart", I use simple lines to create three bird’s eye views of mountains and the rivers between mountains. I try to create unlimited space through limited lines. As mentioned by Sean Scully, people often think of abstraction as abstraction, but it’s actually not; abstraction should be a self-portrait first, which expresses the painter’s personal state. I apply such principle of abstraction in this work. The different abstract shapes of mountains represent different emotions and moods. It could be gentle, relax, anxious, worried, and so on, depending on the mood of the viewer.
