In these silk paintings, I initiate a quiet dialogue with Botticelli. His portraits, with their graceful outlines and Renaissance vision of individuality, become the starting point for my journey. I trace his silhouettes not to replicate them, but to open a space where another world can enter.
Within his contours, I bring in the language of my heritage: Taihu stone, Poetic landscapes, and motifs from shanshui painting. These elements inhabit his figures, reshaping them with the rhythms of nature, where humanity is never separate from the larger flow of existence.
On silk, a medium both fragile and enduring, East and West encounter each other. Botticelli’s humanism, rooted in the tangible and personal, meets the Chinese vision of harmony and interconnection. The surface itself becomes a space of resonance, where cultural memory, transformation, and belonging overlap.
In this way, my works become both homage and transformation: Botticelli remembered, Botticelli reimagined.
