New World

This work is inspired by the pandemic and my bi-cultural background. Due to the pandemic, I spent less time with other people and more time to observe the natural world. I feel that although the pandemic has changed the human world a lot, many natural things remain the same. The flowers and trees are still growing. Even though they are very static compared to human life and society, I feel that they are powerful. I hope to demonstrate such strength of life in the challenging world.

From my personal perspective, I was fortunate to be exposed to both traditional Chinese painting and Western painting. I know that there must be many difficulties in exploring the new Western art and culture with my Chinese background, just like the dark cloud hanging over the sky. But I believe there are also new opportunities for me to create new works based on my unique experiences. So I apply my 10-year experience in Chinese painting in creating this acyclic painting work and demonstrate the harmony.

In one word, life has been a challenging for many people including me, but I think the storm will eventually come to an end. And just like the plants in the mountains, life will continue and will be stronger after the storm.
